A member of the Maritime Law Association of the U.S. and long an active member of Pacific Admiralty Seminar in San Francisco, Mr. Gambel has considerable experience in incident and disaster response and the efficient  resolution of disputes for various interests, including representation in connection with USCG and NTSB investigations, salvage claims, defense of maritime personal injury claims, cargo claims, and marine insurance claims. Experience also includes advising and assisting clients in the negotiation of charter parties and towage agreements, in resolving demurrage claims, and in addressing maritime regulatory issues.

Representative Maritime Engagements


ˇ       Disaster response on behalf of owners of pipe-laying barge after stranding off San Francisco and subsequent defense of salvage claims in federal court.


ˇ       Disaster response involvement on behalf of vessel owner in connection with explosion and breakup of tanker off San Francisco.


ˇ       Obtained MARAD approval of transfer of mobile offshore drilling unit to non-citizen.


ˇ       Advised owner of oceangoing launch barge carrying offshore drilling platform with towage, demurrage, and coastwise trading issues.


ˇ       Represented major cargo owner in connection with disaster response after fire aboard heavy lift vessel in New York.


ˇ       Represented tugboat company in Jones Act death and personal injury cases.
